I recently had the opportunity to try out DataOne Software, an automotive and powersports data library that includes everything from features and options to warranties, specifications, and general details for every vehicle from 1981 to the present year. The program also boasts a comprehensive database featuring available colors, dimensions, weights, angles, and capacities. Additionally, the library comes complete with media detailing 360-degree internal and external spins, colorized photos, and multiple shots of every vehicle.
One of the more impressive features of the DataOne Software is its ability to reference VINs, making it easy to create accurate vehicle descriptions. D1S data and tools can be accessed from approximately 10,000 locations throughout the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. D1S web services also process an average of 300k-500k vehicles per month, with roughly 4-5 million vehicles being processed annually through both web services and applications. Approximately 1-2 million vehicles per year rely on D1S licensed data.
DataOne Software is committed to providing affordable and comprehensive data and automotive content in a format that makes it easy for solution providers to implement and utilize quickly and effectively. The program is available through CSV file delivery, which provides basic VIN information. The CSV file can be used for simple tasks like VIN validation or decoding. Updates are made available monthly through email request, and licensing costs are dependent on the user's usage and distribution.
If more than the basic data points are required, DataOne Software provides several options, including the delivery of data via the XML VIN service or the option to access a series of full tables.
