DiaBetter

DiaBetter is a software tool designed specifically for diabetics, recognizing the seriousness of this disease. As a type 1 diabetic myself for nearly 3 decades, I've experienced numerous problems managing my condition. Despite all of my efforts, my blood glucose levels seemed to be uncontrollable. However, since beginning to use the insulin pump about a year ago, I've achieved much better results. Unfortunately, when I was first diagnosed, I was only advised about sugar contents, but never warned about the importance of counting carbohydrates until I started using the pump. I strongly believe if my doctor had discussed carbs with me earlier, I could have used the information to manage my blood glucose levels more efficiently.

DiaBetter's menu options begin with "Patterns", which is where you can input your goals. Additionally, you can enter up to 14 tests per day, including the time of the test and your test results. Your "Daily Average" is then calculated and displayed. The software also includes a "Carb Book", equipped with a carb counter that is incredibly useful. This allows you to select a specific food, input the amount, and calculate the total grams of carbs. Furthermore, you can set the grams of carbs per unit of insulin, though you may need to experiment to identify the correct dosage for your specific needs.

DiaBetter doesn't make any judgement calls related to your insulin amounts, instead it calculates your insulin based on the entries you've made and the ratio you've chosen. You can also create your own recipe book to ensure you'll always have easy access to the foods and their carb content that are right for you. All in all, DiaBetter is an incredibly helpful tool for diabetics looking to manage the disease and improve their overall quality of life.
