GridImp

GridImp is a powerful software that allows you to import gridded data into Microsoft MapPoint. With GridImp, you can produce attractive data maps that resemble contour maps, using input data consisting of values defined for various geographic coordinates. Common output formats like CSV are supported, and GridImp can handle imperfect data, holes, re-gridding, and more. This software can be used to import attributes like pollution data, seismic hazard, geological information, customer or population distribution, and more.

GridImp can interpolate data to different grid spacings if needed, making it flexible and adaptable for various needs. It also features polygon optimization algorithms that reduce drawing time, as well as cpu and memory requirements. Compatible with various text formats using separators like space, tab, or comma, GridImp supports both Unix and DOS/Windows newline conventions.

Data coordinates can be longitude and latitude, custom linear coordinates, or UK Ordnance Survey Grid References. GridImp can add data to an existing map or template, allowing it to be used with other MapPoint add-ins like the Single State Mapper. Predefined or user-defined color schemes can be used, including transparent gaps and attractive color gradations.

GridImp version 2.3 adds support for Windows Vista (32 bit), while version 2.2 adds support for Microsoft MapPoint 2006. Version 2.0 includes support for Ordnance Survey Grid References, custom linear grids, and existing map files. It also includes the ability to force MapPoint garbage collection for large maps, which reduces MapPoint's memory requirements and increases speed.
